Meeabee

Finally I have got some fabric to send to my lovely friend in Japan who is going to make Kahlo one of these cute bags! I have got her some Frida Kahlo fabric (as that who she is named after). Jacqui at Meeabee is from NZ but lives in Japan with Mr Meeabee and their two little boys. I met Jacqui on Skout trade fair and she also has a shop on etsy like us and now also like us is part of Trifle so we will be seeing alot more of each other! Hopefully too I will actually seeing her in life when she comes to NZ at Christmas. Anyway Jacqui makes the most deliciously cute bags for little girls and boys..she is one talented lady!! Also Meeabee has a really lovely blog Blooming in Japan which gives her followers a delightful insight to her life in Japan.

My beautiful neice Rach gets to stay in the USA

Rach at her graduation and Mum Jodee

This is my lovely niece Rachel and my sister Jodee who live in America waiting for Jodee's other daughter Matisse to have her transplant. They have been there over two years now waiting and in that time Rachel has grown from the giggly teen that left to a young woman beginning the rest of her exciting life. She was moving back to NZ because even though she had been accepted to college over there Jodee and Wayne were unable to finance it as they are not allowed to work in America,.... even though they have to live there with their chronically ill child (bizarre I know..they are able bodied and willing to work but not allowed!!)
So the great news...Rach has been awarded a scholarship for the next four years which means she gets to stay close to her family and get her qualifications!! I am so proud oh her, and just know she is going to do amazing things!!!

My generation....the music and the hair.....

Friday, June 26, 2009

Today is a very sad day the death of both these stars will always be remembered. This is who I grew up with. For me MJ's Jackson 5 and early disco will always make me remember a certain time in my life. I was in England when thriller came out..every song recounts a time. A friend and I sung Ben at a school assembly..and for those that know me I am not a singer so it must have been horrendous..but I thought I sung it with the same passion as Micheal Jackson so that is all that mattered!! He has made an impact on generation's...my 12 yr old son just came out doing a little dance to Billy Jean..he even scarily had the pelvic moves down pat, and while he is not as sad as me he realises what music has lost. I recall being a bit younger than him and coming home from school to find my mum sobbing her heart out..Elvis had just died!
And Farrah..well who didn't want to be her?? I sooo did, I am going to hunt out some old photos I have of me in my school uniform with my hair flicked at the sides just like hers!! I KNOW.... I would get up really early and blow wave my hair then use the curling tongs to create the perfect flick..my flick would last all day without really moving..no wonder I left school at 15 to become a hairdresser..I had had all that practice, after that I could do anything!
So Good Bye RIP and thanks!!

Bloggity blog block...

Tuesday, June 23, 2009

Ok I have a major blog block..I know it sounds like I need a plumber, NOT bog block..BLOG BLOCK....... What do you write about when you have a blog block..hee hee quite liking the sound of that...'BLOG BLOCK'! Sorry I am just getting silly now. I think I must be sleep deprived or something, I do have a certain little miss that is coming in to bed each night, but that is really no different from normal. Maybe winter is just getting too much for me, maybe cyberspace is taking over my life, one of my closest girlfriend laughs and says I have a whole other life in cyberspace...well she is right, I so do! But I have met so many wonderful cyber space-cadets here, so I like it. Speaking of space have you seen our 'Space Odyssey 1968' below? We have just made one of these and are sending it off to New York.
The two models for this one are my eldest boy Zav and his best friend Kaeve..dont they look cool.

Tired and Grumpy!!

Monday, June 22, 2009

Not sure what has happened with me over the weekend, but I must say I have been a little grumpy. Friday night I was feeling housebound which is what happens when you work from home I think. So since it is too hard for Si and I to go out together short notice I went out with Mr F. For those of you who don't know Mr F is my movie buddy and last minute sanity buster (oh not sure if that makes any sense), put it this way when I need to get out and my friends are too lazy, too broke, or too weighed down with responsibility Mr F will save the day..as it is very rarely that he will not want to go out!
Mr F and I like going to different movies, so when we found the only movie that looked remotely ok to see was called 'the Hangover' I was mildly reluctant...yes I am a movie snob! .......But 'the hangover' as it turned out was just what the doctor ordered, it relieved my grumpiness with its totally un-PC, sometimes cringe worthy humour to the point at one stage Mr F and I sat giggling like school kids, which is much better than our normal movie when we could easily slash our wrists afterwards as they are that depressing! So the hangover coupled with a drink or two and a bite to eat was just the thing for my grumpy mood! The rest of the weekend was fairly quite, catching up with friends and hanging out with the little people. My parents move to Napier next week so Si and I are looking forward to being able to go out together. Not sure if Mum and Dad know what they are in for!

Our very popular Dear Deer Tree

Thursday, June 18, 2009

This darling tree is only a few weeks old and is traveling the world. So far it has been to Australia, Korea, Europe, NZ of course, four to America..another one we are making right now to go to Chicago,a place I would love to go back to! Well at least a little part of me is.
Its funny as an artist one can struggle for months on one piece of work then often by the time you finish you don't want to part with it because you have put so much of yourself into it. I am really loving designing our range of unique wall graphics and knowing that children all over the world are getting enjoyment out of something we have really loved creating!

Matisse with her big catch!!

Sunday, June 14, 2009

As some of you know my niece Matisse is awaiting a transplant in Pittsburgh, so her and family have been living there for the last two years waiting. They don't get o have many holidays because of the major hassle of having to take all of Matisse's medical things, plus being away from the hospital when they could be called at any time for her transplant. So when 'Believe in Tomorrow' phoned and asked my sister if they would like to spend a week at Ocean City Maryland, they were over the moon!! So far no majors dramas or family feuds...and here is Matisse with her big catch. I hear she was also a guest speaker on a radio show!! Matisse is destined for stardom, she is the ultimate drama queen!

I've been tagged!!

Saturday, June 13, 2009

It's really simple. I love how every photo tells a story. Some short stories, some long tales. I want to know what is your favourite photo of yourself. Everyone has one. The photo they look at and smile. It reminds them of something, some time, some place. A moment in time.

So share the photo, share the story and then tag three other people. I want to see photos and stories all around the blogosphere.

fatmumslim

I have been tagged by my lovely friend Jacqui from Meeabee
And like Jacqui most of the photos I really like of myself are pre-digital..I'm sure I like them because they are pre OLDER!! Anyway always up for a challange I am going to brave it out. So when I was looking through my photos (very few of me I might add as I am always the one behind the camera!) I have decided to add two. The first one is not because I like the photo of me..who does just after they have given birth...but I like me, BECAUSE I have just given birth!!

My Daughter 'Kahlo Dolly Ruby Lindegren' was born at 11.11pm on the 30 Jan 2007..she was 11 days late (well all three of mine were) so I guess this is just how I cook them! I was 11 years older than when I had first given birth to my eldest son. Older & wiser, I knew it hurt so was prepared that anything could happen. Labour started then stopped amazingly when my bestest girlfriend from Wellington said she was on her way (3hr drive). As soon as she walked in the door up it started again! I also had my big girl (step daughter Kyla there, 19 at the time) and of course my darling man big Si.
Sooo It hurt..really really hurt hurt. Then my poor parents poked their heads in the door and both somehow ended up staying as things started to quicken up. As Kahlo's head was crowning...my poor friend fainted so Kyla had to step up to the lower regions (this was meant to put her off..umm she now has a 8moth old!!)..anyway I am straying...after an agonizing struggle my little girl (who I thought was a boy) appeared...all 10.5 lbs of her!!! HUGE..I do breed them big but this was the biggest yet, and first natural! So I was rather chuffed with myself..Older, biggest yet, natural birth , only birth my father had been too, thought I had put Kyla off birth(LOL), my friend who is hard as fainted..and I got me a girl!!!

Ok now I am going to tag Trina at Lola and Ben, Jodee at Babybaby and Kylie at Cackleberry!

If you want to see what I really look like , there is an ok picture of me posted about 5 posts back..I look way better when I haven't just given birth!
BTW..decided NOT to add two..too lazy!

Time for clean up!

Friday, June 12, 2009

Here is Mr Ja Ja and the silver dog raking the walnut tree leaves...I cannot believe how many there are, and while they look lovely they do end up turning into a mushy mess! Also in the shot is my gorgeous retro caravan that is a little sad on the outside but just mint on the inside! Also Check out the pink shed with a little window at the bottom. This was put there because, this great couple and their two children lived in this yard for 14 years in a house bus. They made the shed (pink later when I turned up) into the kids bedroom, and hubby Chris put in a window at the bottom so his kids (in bunks) could both have a window each!! Isn't that cool!!
The weather has just bottomed out and is now pouring...so LUCKY we got the roof fixed yesterday. Speaking of weather proof...

STICKYTIKI IS NOW WEATHER AND WASH PROOF!!!!!! Sooo this means all those sticky little fingers marks can be wiped away...it also means your StickyTiki can go OUTSIDE or like me on your car!!!! The possibilities are ENDLESS...

We have been testing safe water based laminates and have found one that meets all our strict requirements to make it safe for you, your little darlings and the environment!

Politics and leaky roofs!!

Thursday, June 11, 2009

Bit slack today, as a lot of it was spent in discussions, which meant I didn't get too much done! But StickyTiki facebook is definitely up and running..come and join us we would love to see you there!
Another big plus of the day is the plumbers finally got here to fix the roof....yeah I know plumbers fixing roofs seems a little strange but apparently it is quite normal! So the buckets an bowls can go back to their other lives of mops and cake stuff. We quickly got in some insulation too for the plumbers to throw in..so warm and dry. The thing about Napier I love is that, at 11.30 the plumber said 'you should chuck in some insulation here' , Si was out of range, little girl was sleeping so I couldn't go any where, but the lovely guy on the ph at Tumu timbers said 'oh no worries I will chuck it in the ute and bring it round'. Sooo at 11. 50 I had insulation here for the plumbers to put in the ceiling!!! How is that!
I was hoping Mr F would be around for coffee and a catch up but he slept in... (no dependants!)
Got a message from my darling friend who with new hubby is swanning around Vietnam I am so jealous! x..

StickyTiki Story!

Monday, June 8, 2009

I have friends who have a house at Ohakune they are selling, they asked me if I have any art work that I could spare to make it look more appealing. So I gave them a couple of painting and some StickyTiki Decals (Chocolate Lovin and The worlds longest place name), so off the hubby went full of inspiration for applying the graphics and hopefully making a house sale! Today I talked to them on the phone and asked how the house was going....No bites on the house but the estate agent has been ringing because potential buyers want to know where to buy the cool sticky things!!! DAMN!!! Sorry guys hope the house sells soon!

To sick to do a big post!

Saturday, June 6, 2009

I have a head cold..stuffed up, feeling sorry for myself, but not sick enough to stay in bed!!! So short update. The car has been very popular, one of my big boys friends Mum wants me to do her car and put our logo on it...so free advertising, she is also such a cool lady so will give anyone that asks (maybe even if they dont ask) the spiel about us. So YAY to her!! Si and our neighbor have just built Si the most awesome desk..so Stickytiki HQ is looking very professional. Will post a pic later when I dont feel so lousy. My Mum made little girl the most beautiful purple dress today..she looked so cut even with the snot in her hair. x

Spot my car!!!

Thursday, June 4, 2009

Inspired by Heidi from America and Jackie from Australia I decided that it was time to put the spot-light on my car! So two lots of Hundreds and Thousands later..this is what you get! I only did it yesterday afternoon and already have had so many comments. I must admit I do feel a little self-conscious, because the car gets looked at...a lot! My big boy and his friends think it is cool..well that was until I had to drop him off at school this morning and he said 'just drop me round the corner Mum'! We are testing a new Eco friendly product that will make all our decals completely weather proof, and wash proof, so they can be put outside as well...how cool is that!! So stay posted as we will be doing a special offer on two lots of Hundreds and Thousands SOON!! x

Happy Birthday NZ time Jodee!!

Wednesday, June 3, 2009

Today is my sister Jodee's birthday..well at least for us it is, tomorrow will be her birthday for her as she lives in the States! Here is a little picture I took on my walk this morning, this is just one street over from us and right across the road from where Jodee and her family lived before they had to go to the States for Matisse's transplant. In fact the view could be seen from their house. 'So Happy birthday Jo' I hope you have a great day x PS: I told you my big boy flew in from Australia last night...which he did and was very grownup, except his passport did another couple of flights back to Wellington after he got off the plane!! Yes he s a grownup 12 yr old, but when he is excited about seeing us and his mates ...unimportant things like his passport get forgotten!! But hey it expired today!

Some of our favourite things!!

Tuesday, June 2, 2009

We have this shelf in the kitchen where everything that you use on a regular basis goes......BUT it was meant originally to look nice! You know with those cute little bits and pieces ...retro dinner tray, cool coffee set your friend has given you, funky 70s book! But somehow it always seems to get over taken with hair ties, dead batteries, birthday cards, pencils, bits of blue tac, loose change, screws out of the door, broken bits off toys that you promise you will fix but end up staying there for 6 mths! Until one day you clean up, chuck it all (feel guilty for doing so) ...then start the whole process all over again! Also note the gorgeous castle that Ja ja made me!

This is my shelf...yes after a cleanup!! the things that have snuck back in and are always used are: Babybaby's healing balm...because everyone with kids should have this stuff..multi use, bumps & scrapes, anti bacterial , anti fungal made with NZ Manuka and Kanuka oils.....its just damn good for everything....even the odd sore tummy!! My very talented sister developed this product..and yes I am biased but it really is the best. One customer buys 8 tubes at time and uses it for her rheumatoid arthritis!! The other thing on the shelf at the mo is our honey sticks that we bought from Lola & Ben. The kids love drawing with them..they smell divine and are easy for littlies to hold..plus they are made from beeswax so safe for little people. My big boy arrives home in just over an hour, he will be waiting at Wellington airport right now (so grownup!). he has been with his Dad, big brother and sister in Australia for two weeks. The two small ones cant wait to see their big bro..neither can Mum. x

Yummy scrummy colour!!!

Monday, June 1, 2009

Here is a sneak preview of new colour combos I am working on for a variation of our old favorite! I am just loving these mixes. Will be interesting to see if any of them prove to be as popular as our Hundreds and Thousands, which are living many lives all over the world, we have some more sold today that are off to Liverpool...sooo exciting! Lovely quiet day here on the home front for our Queens birthday holiday. Too cold to do very much so I was actually able to stick my nose in a book for part of the day..while poor Si was working away :( x
